From Cala d’Or you can take the regular bus (which stops opposite the Inturotel Cala Azul Garden, 50 m from Esmeralda Park-Cala Azul Park) and get off in the village of Santanyí. In winter and spring Inturotel organises a free weekly coach trip for its guests.
What to do:
As well as strolling around the gorgeous market (on Wednesdays and Saturdays) and shopping in it - handicrafts, delicious local products, cold meats, cheeses... a trip to the village of Santanyí is always worthwhile. This attractive, charming village is in inland Mallorca, where until recently all the villages were located, away from the coast, as proximity to the sea exposed people to all kinds of dangers. It was founded in the year 1300, like many other towns, after the Christian troops invaded the island putting an end to Islamic rule. Santanyí stone, a highly-prized material which was used to build much of the village, reflects the light in a magical way, especially in the afternoon, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It isn’t hard to see why this village, full of alleyways, art galleries, antique shops etc. has always attracted artists and creative people from all over the world.
